How do you show a user that the AI is only 70% sure? That is the class of problem this role solves all day. Non-deterministic outputs. Confidence levels. Trust in AI suggestions. Graceful recovery from model errors. Prototypes get built for conversational interfaces and copilot workflows, plus the generative features that sit on top of them. The work demands design fundamentals and a real feel for how models actually behave.

A Day in This Role

Watching users react when an AI search result comes back uncertain. That's what the morning's usability tests are really for. After lunch, prototypes get built for a copilot-style interface, iterating on how to show suggestions without crowding the user out of their own workflow. The day closes with a cross-functional review of a trust framework, the rules for when the product asks before acting and when it just acts.

Common Interview Topics

  • 01Design an interface that communicates AI confidence levels to end users without confusing or overwhelming them
  • 02Walk through your approach to prototyping a copilot-style assistant that suggests actions but lets the user stay in control
  • 03How would you design the error state UX when an AI feature returns a hallucinated or irrelevant result?
  • 04Describe your methodology for usability testing an AI feature where outputs differ each time the user tries it
  • 05Design a progressive disclosure pattern for an AI feature that serves both novice and power users
